One idea behind namespaces, is general cosmology and common lore can just sit in the "main" namespace, then each metaregion/story plot gets its own namespace so each thing is separated out in that way, so users who aren't really involved in that metaregion can't make edits or certain things can be hidden for privacy. Some things might be in testing before they go into production, or certain things might not be fully appropriate for all audiences.

We could be super low tech and just dump everything into the main page and just have a cover page for each project that holds the specific page links.

Ideas B and C are probably the same thing, but I'm not able to compare and contrast them well enough as a noob.

I'm leaning on namespaces, because it sets up a clear distinction for things. Since the site is technically publicly viewable, we might be able to hide any parts we need to from public view using namespaces.
Ideas A and B are probably the same thing, compatible, or otherwise ideal to use in conjunction with each other. I'm not able to compare and contrast them well enough as a mediawiki noob.

Do we want general cosmology to be dumped into main and each metaregion get its own namespace?

Or do we want general cosmology to have its own specific namespace so it's more clearly set aside from the mishmash of other pages?

Both?
What type of category loadout should we have?

Neither?

I want to establish some foundations for the wiki to grow into so it can stay somewhat organized.

Idea A

One option is to assign category tags to certain pages, which are searchable. One page can have more than one category.

Idea B

We could be super low tech and just dump everything into the main page and just have a cover page for each project that holds the specific page links.

My thoughts

Ideas A and B are probably the same thing, compatible, or otherwise ideal to use in conjunction with each other. I'm not able to compare and contrast them well enough as a mediawiki noob.

What type of category loadout should we have?

  • Cosmology
    • for all the fundamental properties of DW
  • Detriche
    • for everything dealing with detriche
  • Infloraan Sea / world tree
    • for all the fantasy roleplaying stuff
